Over the last year I have had quite a few of friends who have gotten married. I have also been asked several times to be in weddings as well. And I would have to say that the most touching invites that I have gotten to be in someone’s wedding party is when the invite was handmade. A friend of mine once received a cookie in the mail that had frosting that spelled out, “Will you be my bridesmaid?”
Now something that I really enjoy is when a bride can take something that really signifies her big day, especially if her big day has a theme. One idea is to have mini paintings with a detail attached to it that is associated with her wedding. For example, the one here is a painting of a flower with the pedals being bits of broken record. This one is for a wedding that had a rock and roll theme. On the back of the paining it invites the person to be a member of the wedding party.
What you’ll need:
Canvases for as many people that you plan on having in your wedding party
A small pack of brushes, you can usually find a cheap set at a craft store
Paints, I prefer acrylic, but it’s really your preference
An item to glue onto the painting
White glue
Then let your creativity take you wherever it goes! Try to stay away from gluing anything too big to the canvas, and try to use the smallest canvas possible, especially if you are planning on mailing any out. Your gift is sure to spark some conversation!
